Transportation

Traveling to Portugal

Portugal can be easily reached by plane from all around the world. Lisbon Airport is located just 15 minutes away from the city center – Lisbon. The airport has an outpost of the city tourism office, currency exchange counters, and ATMs, health services, shops, and restaurants.

TAP Air Portugal is the 46th EFA Annual Meeting Official Carrier and offers up to 10% off on Economy class tickets and up to 15% off on Business class tickets.

From the airport to Lisbon and Cascais

Taxi

You can find a taxi at the airport, normally queuing outside the departures and arrivals terminals.

The journey from the airport to Carcavelos / Cascais takes about 20-30 minutes. Taxis do not have a flat rate for rides to Cascais so your ride will be charged based on the meter. Additional costs, such as driving on public holidays or late-night driving, may be applied. The average cost of the journey is 40€.

The ride from the airport to the city center – Lisbon – is quick and costs between 10 and 15 euros, including luggage fees.

If you choose this means of transportation, make sure the meter is turned on at the beginning of the journey and always ask for a receipt/invoice.

Uber

Uber drivers are all around the city. To get a fare estimate and to view the airport pick up point, check online on Uber website.

My Chauffeur

You can book a direct transfer service with My Chauffeur using the email info@mychauffeur.pt and providing the following info: Name; Mobile Number; Email, Flight number; time of flight departure, Pick-up point; destination. Please also mention that you are an EFA participant. Prices with My Chauffeur are:

  • Lisbon airport to hotels in Cascais: €35
  • Lisbon airport to hotels in Estoril: €30
  • Lisbon airport to hotels at the Hotel in Paço de Arcos: €25
  • Lisbon airport to Nova SBE: €25

If you book the return service a 10% discount applies.

Public transportation

An efficient public transportation network takes you to Lisbon city center and all the cities of the coast such as Cascais.

Metro / Subway to Lisbon City Center and CP Train to Carcavelos

The Lisbon Airport has a Metro (subway) station with a direct line to the city center. The Aeroporto – Saldanha red line takes you to downtown Lisbon in about 20 minutes.

To reach Carcavelos/Cascais, take the Metro red line, change to the green line in the station Alameda and go to Cais do Sodré metro station. From Cais do Sodré, there are trains every 20 minutes to reach Carcavelos, Estoril, and Cascais.

Carris – Public Buses

Several bus lines connect the airport arrivals terminal to different parts of the city (Lisbon). Please note that the maximum baggage size allowed in these buses is 50x40x20cm.

Getting to Nova SBE Campus

Free transfers for EFA participants

For participants staying at our Hotels, the EFA organizers have arranged transportation from the hotels in Carcavelos, Estoril, and Cascais to the Campus with our Partner BusUp. You will be required to book your ride through the BusUp EFA 2019 specific App. and easily reach Nova SBE with no further costs.

BusUp Services for participants staying in Lisbon

For participants who are not staying at our Hotels the EFA 2019 free transfer service is not included.

However, it is possible to use a paid BusUp Service departing from Lisbon. There are weekly subscriptions (18€) and single tickets (one way: 2,5€) and several pick-up points in Lisbon.

CP – Train

Train (CP) from Cais do Sodré Station to Carcavelos Station – 35 minutes

From the Carcavelos Train Station to campus you have several options: a 25-minute walk or use the MobiCascais options:

  • Shuttle: a 5-minute ride with MobiCascais shuttle
  • Bike: an 8-minute ride by bike. MobiCascais has a bike renting system that allows users to share bikes. There are specific racks for MobiCascais’ bikes in the Carcavelos CP Train station, at Nova SBE campus and Cascais.
